Book Talk & Strategy Session to End School Pushout for Black Girls in Phila
By: Education Law Center
MON, APRIL 4 AT 4:30 PM, PHILADELPHIA, PA
Author, professor, and advocate Dr. Monique W. Morris will share her expertise and insight from her research and newly released book Pushout: Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools. After Dr. Morris’ keynote address, we will engage in conversation and workgroups led by girls of color, advocates, university partners, and girl serving organizations. This will be an opportunity to talk about strategies to dismantle the “School-to-Prison Pipeline” and foster positive and affirming school climate for girls of color in Philadelphia schools. The event is open to anyone interested in addressing School Pushout’s impact on Black girls in Philadelphia.
Co-Hosted by the Education Law Center, Girls Justice League, and the Center for the Study of Race Equity in Education – University of Pennsylvania GSE.
