Dr. Amy Gutmann, President of the University of Pennsylvania, Discussing and Signing her book entitled, Why Deliberative Democracy and Identity in Democracy.

Dr. Amy Gutmann comes to the University of Pennsylvania from Princeton University, where she served as Provost and was also the Laurance S. Rockefeller University Professor of Politics and the University Center for Human Values. “Why Deliberative Democracy?” contributes to our understanding of how democratic citizens and their representatives can make justifiable decisions for their society in the face of the fundamental disagreements that are inevitable in diverse societies.
