Book Release: “Learning After School”
Students at South Boston Harbor Academy Charter School (SBHA) have consistently achieved at the highest levels, earning SBHA statewide recognition, including designation as a Vanguard School by the public school improvement organization Mass Insight for Education. Faculty at SBHA attribute much of this success to their after-school programming, which is a comprehensive “safety net” for students as they work to achieve high academic goals.
Beginning in September 2003, a team of SBHA teachers spent a year working with the Project for School Innovation to identify, explore, and document essential elements of this program. The resulting publication, “Learning After School” is the tenth how-to book in PSI’s By Teachers for Teachers series. Like all titles in this series, “Learning After School” is full of step-by-step instructions, tips, and stories other educators can use to replicate these powerful practices in their schools. Read the introduction for free, order a copy, or inquire about bringing customized trainings to your school from the same teachers who wrote the book–all at http://www.btft.org (click “How-to Books” then “Learning After School.”)
