Book Launch: Anti-Oppressive Education in “Elite” Schools – Oct 8
Posted by AnchorEd on September 28, 2021
AnchorEd and ImpactEd are hosting a new event, and we’d love to see you there! Join editors Katy Swalwell and Daniel Spikes, three contributing authors, and educator activists for a 90-minute workshop examining the book Anti-Oppressive Education in “Elite” Schools: Promising Practices and Cautionary Tales From the Field. Through presentations and discussion, we explore how those who are in a position of power in schools — especially those of privilege, both public and private — can be educated to take active steps that reduce and disrupt oppression.
For educators, school administrators, community activists, students, and parents, this session helps us move from research to action. Participants are empowered to transfer what we learn from our time together into their own contexts in order to create equitable classrooms, schools, and communities. Sessions will be facilitated using inclusive protocols to ensure maximum collaboration and learning.
Date and Time: Friday, October 8, 2021, 3:00-4:30 PM EST
