Honoring Black Women in Sport Past and Present

Honorees:
Coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs- Head Women’s Basketball coach at North Carolina A&T
She comes into her 24th season with 422 wins, 11 regular-season championships, nine tournament championships and has been awarded her conference’s coach of the year honor nine times. She is one of only two women’s basketball coaches in history to earn 400 wins exclusively coaching at an HBCU.

Past Legend Wendy Lewis, SVP of Diversity and Strategic Alliances for Major League Baseball, Office of the Commissioner. She implements MLB’s Diversity Economic Initiative, (DEI).
Presenter of the Bernice Anastasia Ximines Smith Scholarship
Past Legend Claire Smith- ESPN Event Production News Editor, overseeing news content for live broadcasts, primarily the Sunday, Monday and Wednesday Night Baseball shows. She was one of the first women to cover a Major League team as a fulltime beat writer.

Stephanie Smith – Graduate of Temple University’s School of Education, B.S degree in Secondary English Education, graduated cum laude. Presently teaches Character Education at Discovery Charter School in West Philadelphia
The Black Women in Sport Foundation is dedicated to facilitating the involvement of Black women in every aspect of sport nationally and internationally. Our mission is achieved through the “hands-on” development, management and implementation of grassroots level outreach initiatives. Founded in 1992, the Foundation proudly reflects on 16-years of successful programming efforts, with an unflinching focus toward promoting health and fitness and meeting the needs of a new generation of talented women athletes and aspiring sports professionals.
