Bilingual Summer Program Group Leader, Puentes de Salud – Mar 24
Posted by Puentes de Salud on March 7, 2023
About Puentes de Salud:
Puentes de Salud works with Latinx immigrant communities in and around the Philadelphia area through high-quality healthcare, social and wellness services, and educational programming. The Puentes de Salud Education branch serves youth ages 3-18 and their families through out-of-school-time programming that centers multilingualism, academic support, and exploration of creative and cultural practices. Specifically, the Puentes Hacia el Futuro program works with students in elementary and middle school and their families.
About the Program:
This program will work with elementary-aged students in the South Philadelphia Latinx community in a five-week summer camp program. Programming will engage young people in exploring different forms of multilingual literacy, the arts, and other enrichment activities. We seek to create bilingual learning spaces that are accessible to students and that advance language justice. Programming will take place in-person, provided that remains a safe option. Appropriate COVID precautions will be taken, such as requiring mask wearing for all participants, limiting the total number of people in each group, and adhering to social distancing protocols. Puentes requires that all group leaders be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to working in-person.
Position Description:
We seek two bilingual (Spanish/English) educators who have demonstrated experience working with young people and who are committed to their own learning and growth. Group leaders will have a high level of responsibility in facilitating a successful program alongside staff and volunteers. In this role, this educator will both teach daily program lessons following a curriculum developed by Puentes staff and serve as a group leader to supervise students and facilitate the arrival, dismissal, and other group processes that make up the program. This role will take place in person at Southwark School in South Philadelphia from late June to early August with additional time for preparation and meetings that can be done remotely/virtually on Fridays.
To Apply: Please send your cover letter and resume to Renny Perla at [email protected] by March 24th. We will review and interview candidates on a rolling basis.
