Bilingual Job Readiness Instructor, JEVS Human Services

Summary of Major Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain a working knowledge of Philadelphia Districts’ Attorney Office, Public Defenders Association and the Philadelphia Criminal Court regulations.
- Prepare periodic written reports, both statistical and narrative.
- Participate in supervisory meetings, staff meetings, pre-court meetings on an ongoing basis.
- Participate in contract compliance and achievement of program goals.
- Participate in additional programmatic and agency-wide activities as assigned.
- Participate in periodic TCY, WI, and hard to serve population trainings.
- Participate in program and WI Unit Total Quality Management Implementation.
Program Specific:
- Provide job readiness instruction to clients, (including clients with limited English proficiency and/or whose primary language is not English) of an alternative to incarceration program.
- Collaborate with educational staff to provide appropriate job readiness instruction and activities.
- Use Career Scope, and Gateway assessment results for customized individual life plans and appropriate job readiness curriculum.
- Develop lesson plans and curricula designed to achieve established benchmarks within JEVS TCY program design.
- Maintain working knowledge of industry and job trends.
- Facilitate workshops and activities with TCY participants needing employment.
- Assist in collection of timesheets and other data as necessary.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or two years of college course work (Associates degree) in psychology, education, social work, vocational or other allied and appropriate fields and at least two years’ experience in social agencies.
- Must be able to speak and write Spanish and English fluently.
- Must be familiar with the Latina/Latino culture and community.
- Experience with OSA and hard to serve populations facing multiple barriers to learning and employment, specifically individuals with a criminal background.
- Must have good interpersonal communication skills, including verbal and written skills.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and collaborate with a variety of participants and partners.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and some Saturdays
- Proficient in MS Office applications (especially MS Word and Excel). Willingness to learn JEVS specific database.
