Job description
The Housing Advocate is responsible for providing community based domestic violence counseling, crisis intervention, case management and advocacy with a special focus on housing issues in a trauma-informed manner. The Housing Advocate will provide intake and assessment services and conduct follow-up as specified in the individual client service plan, and as needed by funder’s requirements. This position will serve as an advocate and case manager for the client, linking the individual to essential resources to increase their safety, stability and empowerment. The responsibilities of the Housing Advocate will be conducted at Congreso’s main office, in the community, within emergency shelters, within client’s home, and on the Philadelphia Domestic Violence Hotline.
The Housing Advocate will serve as the key liaison for the Rapid Re-housing program and manage a caseload of clients enrolled in this service. The Housing Advocate will provide case management, options counseling, and advocacy for these clients up to one year. The Housing Advocate will also serve as the LDVP housing specialist as well as serve to link the LDVP with the larger housing department within Congreso and other housing entities such as the hoteling program for victims of domestic violence and emergency assistance funds.
Minimum Experience: 2-3 years work experience in domestic violence counseling and advocacy or related field
Minimum Education: BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in counseling, psychology, social work or related field.
Certification/License:
Successful candidate will have to attend and successfully complete the required 40+hours domestic violence training certificate from an approved PCADV training program within a specified time after hire.
