Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) works to improve maternal and child health and well-being through the collaborative efforts of individuals, families, providers and communities. The North Philadelphia Breastfeeding Program goal is to increase breastfeeding rates in North Philadelphia and create community awareness and support for childbirth and breastfeeding using a community-based doula model. The program supports women and their families throughout pregnancy, labor, childbirth, and until babies are 6 months old.

MCC seeks a Bilingual (Spanish) Community Doula responsible for providing culturally sensitive home-based case management services to pregnant women and their families, including intensive breastfeeding education and support, childbirth preparation, doula support during labor, childbirth, and postpartum period. The Bi-Lingual Community Doula will help facilitate support groups and trainings to clients, families, and community organizations.

High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelors of Arts in social work, counseling, or related field preferred. Candidates should be trained as a Birth Doula with a willingness to become certified within three months of hire. We seek an individual with excellent organizational and people skills. Must be available to work some evenings and weekends to attend births. Must have strong time management and problem solving skills; excellent written and oral communication ability; and knowledge and familiarity with North Philadelphia and its community resources. Bilingual in Spanish required. Must be able to operate a computer and use a variety of common software programs including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and customized databases.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
