Bicycle Repair Instructor
Neighborhood Bike Works is looking for a caring, organized, and outgoing person to teach bike repair and safety to 8 – 17 year old students from West Philadelphia. Applicants can expect to start in late May or early June and work up to 30 hours per week with most of the hours in the afternoon/early evening. Pay is $10/hour.
Applicants showing exceptional responsibility, organization, and skills with youth and volunteers will be considered for promotion to Program Coordinator, a full-time position with a $2/hr raise and potential for health care benefits.
The successful applicant will:
* have a demonstrable ability to manage groups of youths & adults
* have experience working with youth & fixing bicycles
* own & maintain a bicycle
* use safe riding techniques
Duties include:
* preparing for & teaching after school classes in bike repair & safety
* keeping track of students’ contact information & attendance
* procuring & preparing nutritious snacks
* contacting families about upcoming events & concerns about students
* managing youth employees & volunteers
* organizing & presiding over graduation ceremonies
* attending meetings & networking with partner organizations
* organizing & leading group rides
