Spectrum Health Services Inc. is a nonprofit community health agency whose mission is to provide comprehensive primary care health services, health education and social services to more than 12,000 low income Philadelphians. The agency is seeking to immediately hire a LCSW or Psychologist to provide behavioral health consultation (BHC) to primary care physicians at its facility. BHC in primary care settings is a growing field that supports the integration of behavioral/mental health and primary care in a “medical home” model. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in community health and be comfortable with motivating behavior change in clients who present with dual diagnoses, co-morbidities, and severe socioeconomic challenges. The candidate should also be comfortable in working directly with a medical staff of doctors, nurses and physicians assistants; as well as have an interest in learning basic medical terminology and psychopharmacology. Because integrated and collaborative care in primary care settings is relatively new, prior work experience in this model is not required. However, the candidate will be expected to actively participate in a growing community of BHCs in Philadelphia for ongoing monthly trainings at the Health Federation of Philadelphia headquarters in Center City.
