Become a PCD Volunteer Technical Mentor – Help Combat the Digital Skills Gap!

We are seeking Philly CoderDojo Volunteer Technical Mentos (unpaid) who are technically skilled, can guide attendees (coding ninjas) by facilitating their learning and project work during a Dojo session. Dojos are held monthly on first Saturday mornings at South Philadelphia Library (1700 South Broad Street Philadelphia PA 19145) except our kickoff held on Saturday, September 21st. At Dojos, young people between 7 and 17 learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programs, games and more.

Basic requirements for Mentors:

  • A love of coding and enthusiasm for passing this skill on
  • Basic Knowledge of at least one coding language like Python, JavaScript, HTML or experience with Scratch
  • Can attain background clearance to work with youth according to local, state and federal regulations

Philly CoderDojo was started in 2017 as a local CoderDojo to serve students in Philadelphia and South Jersey areas. CoderDojo is an open source, volunteer led international movement of free computer programming clubs for young people. At Dojos, young people between 7 and 17 learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programs, games and more. Dojos are set up, run by and led by volunteer members of the community, for their local community.
