Journey’s Way sets workshop on safety of older adults
Journey’s Way will sponsor a seminar, Be Safe: Information and Resources for Protection from Financial, Emotional, and Physical Abuse, on Wednesday, June 27th, 6-8pm at 403 Rector St. in Roxborough.
The incidence of older adult abuse is high -14% of adults 55+ have reported abuse and it is suspected that many more incidents go unreported. This program aims to help participants learn how to prevent and respond to abuse in any form. A panel of experts from CARIE (The Coalition to Advocate for the Interests and Rights of the Elderly), the Fifth Police District, Journey’s Way Housing Counseling, Philadelphia Corporation for Aging Protective Services, and SeniorLAW Center will make presentations and take questions.
The event also includes a light dinner and a jewelry/ craft sale. This program is targeted for people of all ages and especially adults 55+, families, friends and neighbors.
