Banking Deserts Across the U.S.
Posted by Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia on January 23, 2024
While the popularity of online banking has skyrocketed, in-person banking still plays an important role in many communities. A new interactive dashboard identifies banking deserts — areas with no bank branches nearby — and potential banking deserts across the United States. Created by Alaina Barca and colleagues from the Federal Reserve Banks of Philadelphia and Cleveland, the Banking Deserts Dashboard provides a view of the banking landscape from the national level all the way down to counties.
See the Banking Deserts Dashboard on the Fed Communities website.
