Tides Foundation Invites Nominations for Jane Bagely Lehman Awards for Excellence in Public Advocacy
Deadline: May 22, 2009
The Tides Foundation’s Jane Bagley Lehman Awards for Excellence in Public Advocacy are designed to honor policy activists and advocates by recognizing work that demonstrates innovative approaches to social change and a deep commitment to the public interest.
The 2009 awards will recognize two individuals who have advocated and organized for comprehensive immigration reform, worked to counter anti-immigrant policies and groups, and helped voices at the grassroots shape and influence the immigration debate at the national level.
An ideal nominee would be someone who has sought to share their experiences and findings with as wide an audience as possible, and who has worked to bridge the gap between those at the grassroots level and those who make policy. The nominees should be chosen for a body of work, rather than a specific accomplishment, and they should be respected not only by peers, but also by fellow workers and employees.
Self-nominations are not accepted.
The award recipients will be honored with $10,000 each on September 7, 2009 at the Tides Momentum Conference in San Francisco.
