Aurora Humanitarian Initiative invites nominations for 2025 Prize for Awakening Humanity
The Aurora Humanitarian Initiative aims to address on-the-ground humanitarian challenges around the world with the focus on helping the most destitute. Its mission is rooted in Armenian history; the initiative was founded on behalf of the survivors of the Armenian genocide and in gratitude to their saviors, and it works to transform this experience into a global movement.
The organization invites nominations for the annual Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, which aims to recognize modern-day heroes and the exceptional impact of their actions on preserving human life and advancing humanitarian causes in the face of adversity. The Aurora Prize invites nominations for individuals or groups of people who risk their own lives to save the lives of others suffering due to violent conflict or atrocity crimes.
The Aurora Prize Laureate is selected based on the nominee’s demonstration of courage, commitment, and impact. The laureate is honored with a $300,000 monetary award in support of their vital work and a unique opportunity to continue the cycle of giving by allocating $600,000 to grassroots humanitarians and humanitarian organizations that give a second chance to people in need. In addition, two Aurora Humanitarians (finalists) receive a one-time payment of $50,000 each ($100,000 in total).
For complete program guidelines, nomination instructions, and information about previous award recipients, see the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative website.
