The Food Trust, founded in 1992, is a non-profit organization working to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, nutritious food. The food Trust works to educate the public about good nutrition and to increase the availability of fresh food in neighborhoods throughout the region and state. The Food Trust works with school districts, supermarket operators, corner store owners, public and private partners, and farmers to make fresh food and nutrition education available to everyone. The Food Trust has an immediate opening for a full-time Associate Director, consulting.
The Associate Director, consulting is responsible for overseeing the Food Trust’s consulting program. This position will manage existing and future consulting projects, providing technical support and management to consulting team members and consulting agencies using a high degree of independent decision-making and judgment. The Associate Director, consulting will develop new areas and opportunities for growing the consulting work at the agency through marketing, tailoring existing programs to meet needs, outreach about services and expertise (including presentations), drafting proposals and building a client base, and research on current trends, needs and best practices. This position will manage the program’s budget, billing, timekeeping, and reporting areas.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Knowledge of the concepts and practices associated with food access, nutrition education, community business development, and other related areas designed to increase the availability of fresh food in neighborhoods throughout the region and state.
Knowledge of the concepts and practices of providing effective consulting services.
Ability to travel locally and nationally to conduct program outreach and provide technical consulting services.
Ability to develop effective marketing strategies and service proposals to influence potential business partners.
Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, external business partners, and the community.
High degree of professionalism and integrity.
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study is preferred.
5+ years of related experience operating a consultant business; working in a food access or nutrition education setting is preferred; conducting business development activities is preferred.
