Associate Director of Broadband Access, Benefits Data Trust
Posted by Benefits Data Trust on December 20, 2022
Benefits Data Trust (BDT) seeks an Associate Director of Broadband Access to develop and lead BDT’s strategies to ensure everyone has access to affordable high-speed internet by increasing participation in the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) and other critical benefits. Today, one in five American households aren’t connected to the internet, which is essential for employment, education, healthcare, and civic life. With more than 30 million households eligible for but not receiving at least $30 a month to pay for high-speed internet, BDT seeks to increase ACP enrollment by leveraging its experience proactively connecting people to benefits like SNAP and Medicaid, working with the government to streamline access to these benefits and equipping higher education and other sectors to connect people to benefits.
The Associate Director will conduct an assessment to determine the biggest obstacles to ACP enrollment and develop digital access and equity strategies to address them. In particular, they will work with other BDT staff and key stakeholders to develop recommendations for what the federal government can do to increase uptake, and to assist state government and institutions of higher education in increasing access to ACP, including through the responsible use of data to identify and engage likely eligible households and individuals.
