Associate Director, Need In Deed

Position: Associate Director
Reports to: Executive Director
Salary: $75,000-$85,000

Overall responsibility: Serves as chief fundraising officer for Need in Deed (NID). Oversees implementation of communications strategy and major organizational events. With Executive Director, develops organization’s overall strategic positioning.

Specific areas of responsibility:

Development (65%)

  • With ED and Board, create a comprehensive annual development plan that is strategic and diverse — incorporating individual, corporate, and foundation funding — to guide annual fundraising activities
  • Oversee the process of identifying, researching, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with corporate, individual, and foundation contacts
  • Direct individual and major gifts pipeline
  • Develop coordinated fall and spring direct mail and electronic appeals
  • Prepare foundation and corporate grant proposals
  • Oversee gift acknowledgements and reporting requirements
  • Manage organization’s EITC reporting and renewal
  • Convene, support, and consult Development Committee of the Board of Directors to engage all members in effectively supporting NID’s fundraising efforts
  • With NID leadership, develop case statements for NID’s work and special projects
  • With ED, develop communication strategy and oversee implementation in support of NID’s programmatic and fundraising efforts

Program and Strategy (25%)

  • With ED, oversee development of organization’s strategic positioning
  • With ED, develop concept and oversee logistics for annual events with an eye toward visibility- and fundraising
  • With ED, conduct periodic landscape analysis to identify relationship, partnership, and business development opportunities, challenges, strengths, and weaknesses

Administration (10%)

  • With ED, develop annual budget and track income and expenses
  • With ED and Board Finance Committee, develop and implement organization’s financial statements and strategy
  • With ED and Board governance chair, develop Board pipeline
  • Make organizational decisions in ED’s absence

Experience

  • Ten years nonprofit administrative and/or development experience preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising, including grant writing
  • Experience with developing and/or implementing nonprofit communication/PR strategy
  • Facility with fundraising research strategies, including Wealth Engine
  • Facility with basic budgeting and financial management
  • Facility with program evaluation and strategic positioning
  • Facility with Board development
