About PYN: The Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) is a nationally-recognized intermediary organization dedicated to improving the economic and education outcomes of Philadelphia’s youth. PYN organizes its work around four core functions: leveraging, coordinating and managing public and private investment directed at youth education and workforce development in the Philadelphia region; convening and leading cross-sector partnerships and initiatives that enhance opportunities available to Philadelphia youth; designing, managing and replicating effective program models that prepare Philadelphia youth for the future workforce, focusing particularly on youth that live in poverty, have dropped out, or are at risk of dropping out of school and/or are involved with public care systems; and organizing these program models into coordinated service and delivery systems.
General Description: The Associate, Communications & Marketing, works to execute PYN’s communications and outreach strategies across all media and position the organization locally, regionally, and nationally. Reporting to the Director, Communications & Marketing, this role is responsible for enhancing both internal and external communication initiatives; introducing new technologies to increase efficiency of communication; and serving as a self-motivated and fully-integrated member of the Communications team. The ideal candidate will possess attention to detail and will serve as an embodiment of PYN’s core values.
Essential Functions:
Traditional Public Relations and Communications:
Public Relations: Responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of public relations activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization and its leadership including: developing news releases, conducting research, coordinating media interviews, conducting media training and facilitating spokesperson support, developing briefing sheets and talking points, managing media monitoring and tracking, leading social media outreach, and providing other support on special projects and events.
Products and Publications: Coordinate internal communications and marketing requests, including developing timelines, procuring printing, and serving as a liaison between PYN staff and the Communications & Marketing department; review, proofread, and approve all major publications prior to printing and/or production.
Stakeholder Outreach: Strategically utilize online and offline distribution channels to and expand our reach.
Content: Create and manage content for print and online communications to ensure consistent messaging and branding; develop key messaging to tell our story in a clear, compelling manner to diverse audiences and elevate our brand.
Digital Communications:
Social Media: Lead PYN’s social media presence, ensuring consistency and accuracy in all content; identify and research new social media channels for potential use in marketing and outreach; set goals for social media and online growth; establish and review standardized monthly web, social media and other reports; and maintain a practical knowledge of the current generation of social communications platforms
Website: Ensure timely posting of news, publications, and other content on PYN’s websites.
Analytics: Leverage measurement tools to manage all communications analytics; ensure bi-weekly Snapshot reports are disseminated in a timely manner.
Photographs: Work to ensure that PYN’s photography database of images is maintained and indexed.
Newsletter: Manage and create PYN’s internal and external newsletters.
