Summary
As part of a broader nationwide growth effort, the Philadelphia region of Teach For America is in the midst of an ambitious expansion effort. This fall, we are entering the second year of our five-year growth plan, with a goal of growing our corps to 400 by the 2010, up from 260 today. To enable this growth, we will grow our funding base to approximately $4 million annually, up from $2.3 million currently.
We are seeking an assistant to the executive director to provide administrative support for the executive director and development team, enabling the region to move more efficiently and effectively toward reaching its ambitious goals. The assistant will report directly to the executive director.
Teach For America seeks individuals of all ethnic and racial backgrounds to apply for the position.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited do:
? Providing administrative support including scheduling meetings and conference calls, maintaining calendar, arranging travel, managing correspondence, and processing reimbursements for the executive director
? Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date contact database
? Drafting and/or editing correspondence to team members and external constituents
? Driving and participating in special projects to support the executive director in reaching the team?s ambitious goals
? Assuming a proactive role in increasing the efficiency and organization of the executive director
? Working in coordination with the regional development manager to conduct preliminary funder research, catalogue and collect information and data necessary for grant reports and update proposals and supplementary material
? Helping maintain fundraising database (entering data, identifying problem areas, creating and assisting with clean-up projects, and running reports)
? Proactively developing systems for the regional team to maintain organized filing systems and an ample supply of information packets for funders
? Processing donations
? Coordinating mailings to funders, including thank you letters and tax acknowledgements, update letters and newsletters, and introductory letters
Education and Experience
? Bachelor?s degree or high school diploma with experience required
? Prior administrative experience is preferred
? 0-5 years of experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
? Strong customer service ethic
? Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
? Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
? Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, and to juggle several projects at once with a spirit of flexibility and positive outlook
? Knowledge of MS Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel are preferred
Compensation
Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
