Position Summary and Essential Functions:
The Assistant to the CEO is a new position supporting OFN’s President & CEO with an important, discrete set of responsibilities involving subject research, business workflow coordination, OFN Board administration, and other duties. This position will contribute to OFN’s success by supporting the President & CEO on a wide range of tasks that free him up to focus on vision, strategy, and external relations.
This position is ideal for a young professional seeking experience working with C-level executives and the opportunity to learn about executive management and Board activities. Strong candidates will be highly organized, hard working, quick learners with interest in strategic leadership in an exciting field at the intersection of financial services, public policy, and justice. The successful candidate will be an outstanding writer.
The position is designed for an 18-30 month obligation. Long hours are sometimes necessary.
Responsibilities:
* Assist the President & CEO with the regular and sometimes disruptive work flow of his position. Track a wide range of the President & CEO’s work tasks, maintaining a current list of ongoing responsibilities and activities.
* Basic research on a diverse range of topics across multiple media sources, providing well-written summaries when needed for various uses, including public appearances, meetings, and planning. .
* Create, maintain, and monitor a current workflow management system; this may require coordinating with the President & CEO’s Executive Assistant, as needed, who manages logistics and key external relationships.
* Tracking work flow, assisting in preparation of materials, and other duties in support of the OFN Board and OFN Board Committees.
* Tracking work flow, assisting in preparation of materials, and other duties in support of OFN’s strategic leadership “C Team” (the CEO, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief External Affairs Officer).
* Research data, issues, trends, and opportunities for the CEO, including but not limited to compiling historical materials related to OFN’s 30th Anniversary Conference celebration in 2014.
* Support and attend a wide-range of meetings to assist the President & CEO, including C Team, Board, Board Committee, and other external meetings; this includes taking and organizing notes and distilling follow-up items.
* Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree required.
* Exposure to and/or experience in community development finance, finance, banking, and/or management is valuable.
* Work experience demonstrating competence in many, if not all, of the major responsibilities of the position is valuable.
* Demonstrated experience working with the core Microsoft Office productivity applications is required; Advanced skills in Office highly desirable.
* Demonstrated competence working in a professional office setting is required.
* Excellent organizational/time management skills required to prioritize work on diverse assignments in a fast-paced setting.
* Skill at learning quickly and adapting to fluid work demands is important.
* Strong interest in learning about executive management is essential.
* Substantial travel required (up to 33% of time).
