QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with university staff, faculty, and students;
  • Dependability, punctuality, honesty and integrity;
  • Ability to work with a diverse student constituencies;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues and dynamics of difference, awareness and sensitivity to the challenges experienced by individuals in marginalized populations;
  • Experience in the development of educational, cultural and social programs designed to improve the quality of the educational and social experiences of all students, with underrepresented and minority students in particular;
  • Knowledge and experience of community service and service learning;

EDUCATION REQUIRED: Master’s Degree in Higher Education or related field preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with a wide variety of constituents on campus to assess programmatic needs that support diversity issues on campus;
  • Assess current programs and student needs regarding diversity issues;
  • Use assessment to propose and develop new initiatives;
  • Research best practices in diversity initiatives to develop unique programs and communications strategies to promote diversity;
  • Supervise the Office of Student Engagement Associate for Diversity and Social Justice;
  • Coordinate PhilaU’s SERVE 101, a for-credit service learning class;
  • Partner with Community Service staff in creating volunteer opportunity for students;
  • Advise and support Community Service programming initiatives;
  • Support the awareness, visibility and increased usage of service-learning pedagogy across the various constituencies of the university;
  • Participate in departmental initiatives, including New Student Orientation and leadership development programs;
