Assistant Director of Development

Education nonprofit with legacy of two centuries of service to Philadelphia youth is seeking a Assistant Director of Development to work closely with the Director of Grants and Stewardship, to successfully and continuously identify and secure new sources of support, and sustain support of existing donors.   Position offers extraordinary opportunity to be a part of an organization that is expanding services, with a particular focus on ensuring college graduation for urban youth.

Areas of Responsibility:

1.    Assist Director with the following responsibilities and deliverables:
a.    Annual solicitations
b.    Track and acknowledge gifts in a timely manner.
c.    Preparation of periodic reports of funding activities

2.    Write grant proposals and request letters, and prepare supporting documentation; research and identify new government, corporate, and foundation prospects.

3.    Prepare reports for grantors and for other purposes as required by Director.

4.    Support all aspects of fundraising, donor cultivation and special events.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years experience in fundraising and development, preferably in a nonprofit youth-serving setting, and exceptionally strong written and oral communication skills.  Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Word and experience in donor database management are required.  Work with underrepresented college students and knowledge of higher education retention issues are a plus.  The ability to work effectively in a collaborative, quick-paced environment is also required.

This is a full time position that may require some evening and weekend hours.
