Assistant Director, Community and School Partnerships
Drexel University’s Lindy Center for Civic Engagement promotes the ideals of social responsibility and public service by facilitating community based experiential learning for students, faculty, and staff. Through collaborations with the community, we improve the public good on the local, national, and global levels while enriching the scholarship and character of Drexel through enhanced education.
The Assistant Director of Community and School Partnerships is a critical member of the Lindy Center for Civic Engagement’s team. This position oversees all community partnerships in the Lindy Center. The Assistant Director collaborates with all members of the Lindy Center staff as well as various University partners.
Qualifications
1. Three to five years of experience in a nonprofit sector and/or higher education.
2. Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in related field preferred.
3. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously required.
4. Ability and interest to engage with diverse community partners
5. Ability to work collaboratively with various campus partners
6. Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends when required.
7. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
8. Excellent administrative skills.
9. Strong presentation skills and/or demonstrated training experience desirable.
Essential Functions
1. Identify, develop, and maintain community and school partnerships as needed to support civic engagement opportunities for students, staff and faculty across the University. Host quarterly partnership meetings.
2. Conceptualize, develop, and manage the nonprofit capacity-building effort for local nonprofits. This includes organizing workshops, aligning and marketing university resources, and facilitating both internal and external connections for local community organizations
3. Manage the annual Lindy Center Community Partners grant process.
4. Oversee the Lindy Center volunteer database, maintaining student and community partner records. Produce reports of civic engagement activities from the database as needed and otherwise communicate the data when requested in collaboration with Lindy Center staff.
5. Collaborate with Lindy Center staff on assessment, quality assurance, risk management, and civic engagement project selection and development.
6. Support Drexel students by developing and maintaining forty (40) service placements for Drexel Community Scholars (DCS) annually, serving as liaison to all DCS sites, and collecting feedback from partners to inform Student Leadership programming.
7. Consult with Drexel student organizations and departments seeking civic engagement projects
8. Co-facilitate one of the Lindy Center Immersion Programs annually ? local, national, and international service experiences for students.
9. Serve on a working group focus on developing an employee volunteering initiative.
10. Represent the Lindy Center in campus and community meetings, conferences, and public events as needed.
11. Serve as a key member of the Lindy Center staff and assist the Executive Director as requested.
