The Cal/Neva CASH Asset Development and Financial Education Training Institute will focus on:
1. Financial Education Training of Trainers?Planning, Designing and Delivering Effective and Engaging Financial Education
2. Asset Building?Development an Asset Building Approach to Programming and Identifying the Right Strategies for Clients
3. Policy Advocacy?Creating Policy Agenda at local, regional, and state levels and developing advocacy strategies that work.
The majority of the training will focus on Financial Education Training of Trainers, which is not specific to any one financial education curriculum.
Instead, this training focuses on how to make often confusing financial information accessible to individuals and families with low or moderate income and limited asset holdings. The training will cover ways to ensure financial training meets the needs of the people being served. It will also provide information on how to choose financial education materials for specific target audiences.
Topics to be addressed in this training include:
?Applying the principles of adult learning and the learning cycle to financial education planning, promotion and delivery.
?Learning what clients need from financial education?going beyond what you think they need.
?Using specific methods for creating a safe and trust-filled climate.
?Learning about and using energizers and openers to introduce potentially challenging financial topics in a non-threatening way.
?Understanding and using a variety of training methodology to convey financial education to meet the diverse learning styles of adults.
?Learning how to make presentations effective and engaging.
?Facilitating challenging group dynamics.
?Developing and using pre/post training assessments and other ways to document training efficacy.
?Linking financial education with free tax preparation and other asset building services.
?Incorporating principles of media and economic literacy into financial education to address root causes of financial and economic insecurity.
?Practicing facilitation techniques with peers.
?And more.
