Ask Every Student Impact Report
Posted by Ask Every Student on March 24, 2026
Ask Every Student (AES) is a national nonpartisan initiative that asks: Could campuses design systems that ensure every student is meaningfully asked to participate in our democracy?
The newly released report from AES details the research behind this question and the impact that participating campuses are making!
After several years of building and refining data tracking systems, 2024 provided a strong opportunity to evaluate the impact of the different parts of the AES initiative to identify its most effective strategies, differences in effectiveness among different sized campuses and types of institutions, and how other factors can affect campus performance, as measured by self-reported voter registration numbers and campus experiences with grant funds.
While specific strategies can vary in effectiveness based on the size and type of campus, capacity building strategies such as Hiring Student Leaders, Building Inclusive Coalitions, and Building Institutional Partnerships consistently produced higher voter registration numbers when compared to campuses with similar enrollment numbers. When it comes to direct AES voter registration strategies, Academic Integration strategies such as Class Visits and Faculty Champions consistently produced higher voter registration rates.
