Arts Management in Community Institutions
June 5-18, 2005
St. Paul, Minnesota
Established in 1985 with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the AMICI (Arts Management In Community Institutions) Training Institute is an intensive professional development program tailored to the needs of key administrators and leaders in the field of nonprofit, community based schools of the arts. This annual Institute is the most comprehensive of its kind in the United States.
The goal of the AMICI Training Institute is to help you develop comprehensive leadership and management skills. If you work in community arts education, the AMICI Training Institute will help you develop the skills and practices that will increase your organization’s effectiveness.
AMICI addresses the theory and practice of nonprofit arts management. Each student will develop a comprehensive range of practical skills, discuss and apply these skills to his/her own local setting and institution, and increase his/her knowledge of available resources and networks within the field. Participants will increase their understanding of the history and significance of community arts education enabling them to make informed decisions shaping the future of their organizations and their communities.
Set on a quiet urban campus, AMICI?s flexible and interactive approach allows participants to learn at their own pace and style. The Institute guest faculty consists of leading practitioners and experts who present each topic through a variety of teaching techniques including formal classes, individual mentoring, group problem-solving, breakout discussions and analysis of case studies.
A particularly valuable feature of the program is the opportunity it offers to personally network with experts in the field of community arts education. To ensure a high student to faculty ratio, no more than 25 students are accepted each year.
You will benefit from AMICI if you are:
* A director or senior staff member of a new or developing community school of the arts
* An experienced administrator new to the field of community arts education or nonprofit management
* An individual seeking to enter the field of arts management
