Pew Center for Arts & Heritage invites applications for project grants
The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage (the Center) is a multidisciplinary grantmaker and hub for knowledge sharing dedicated to fostering a vibrant and diverse cultural community in Greater Philadelphia.
The Center invites applications for project grants in its Exhibitions & Public Interpretation and Performance programs. Projects must deliver distinctive, high-quality, and meaningful cultural experiences to communities in the Philadelphia region and reflect an organizational commitment to multiple perspectives and inclusive practices in program design, development, and impact. The center supports the following project areas:
Performance: Includes original works or new treatments of existing works in all performance forms. Works may feature film, video, and other moving images interpreted through performative intentions, installations of performance that use experimental media or technology platforms, archival sources, virtual programming, and live performances in public spaces and venues. The use of participatory strategies is welcome.
Exhibitions & Public Interpretation: Includes public display and/or interpretation of artworks, historical artifacts, scientific objects, living collections, archives, buildings, stories, or ideas; film, video, or other time-based media presentations and technology platforms; and all other forms of exhibitions and public cultural interpretation, including those that take place in public spaces, online, and/or make use of participatory strategies.
Single-organization project grants of up to $300,000 (depending upon organizational budget size), special opportunity project grants of up to $400,000, and multi-organizational project grants of up to $800,000 will be awarded.
Applicants must be in the five-county Philadelphia area of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties; have 501(c)(3) designation; have a minimum annual budget of $150,000; and have paid professional artistic and managerial project staff. Applicants with parent organizations (such as libraries and departments/schools at academic institutions) must submit a letter of commitment from a governing official at the time of LOI submission.
All applicants must schedule an appointment to discuss their LOI project idea with Center senior program staff on or before February 9, 2023. Upon review, selected applicants will be notified of eligibility to submit a full Letter of Intent, with a deadline of March 30, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. ET.
