Association of Performing Arts Presenters and MetLife Foundation Invite Entries for Final Year of Arts Access Awards
Deadline: October 5, 2010
The Association of Performing Arts Presenters and the MetLife Foundation have announced the seventh and final year of the Arts Presenters/MetLife Arts Access Awards Program. The overarching goal of the program has been to recognize performing arts presenters and venues that demonstrated innovation, leadership, and a commitment to the full integration of older adults, immigrants, people with disabilities, and underserved communities as equal partners in the performing arts.
Awards will be presented in two categories:
The Arts Presenters/MetLife Arts Access Award: Engaging Individuals With Disabilities honors an organization that has been exemplary in its dedication and approach to engaging individuals with disabilities to experience and value the performing arts. This may be accomplished through programs and strategies that integrate new technologies, respond to recent demographic shifts, and/or establish an ongoing dialogue focused on individuals with sensory, cognitive, learning, developmental, and/or physical disabilities. Two awards of $10,000 each will be awarded.
The Arts Presenters/MetLife Arts Access Award: Engaging Underserved Communities honors an organization that has been exemplary and innovative in its dedication and approach to engaging underserved individuals and communities that lack access to the performing arts and cultural life in the community. Such access could be a result of, but not limited to, differences in geographic location, socioeconomic conditions, diverse backgrounds, or other factors. Applicants may identify their own underserved constituencies.
This award opportunity is open to Association of Performing Arts Presenters members only. All eligible applicants must be nonprofit or tax-exempt performing arts presenting and producing organizations.
Two awards of $10,000 each will be presented in each category.
