Posted on: November 7, 2012

The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program unites artists and communities through a collaborative process, rooted in the traditions of mural-making, to create art that transforms public spaces and individual lives. Since its inception in 1984, Mural Arts has created more than 3,000 community driven murals and provided thousands of under-served youth and adults with award-winning arts education programming.

Art Education Program Manager

The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program is seeking a full-time Art Education Program Manager for its Art Education Department, which serves over 1500 at-risk and adjudicated youth annually through out-of-school programming at sites across the city. As a thought partner to the Director of Art Education and the Art Education Project Manager, the Program Manager will conceptualize, develop, and assess program and project content, curriculum, and goals consistent with Mural Arts’ and partners’ shared vision and expectations. The Art Education Program Manager oversees day-to-day operation of the Program’s goals, providing practical decision-making support, continually planning and fine-tuning to optimize the Program “on the ground” at classroom sites across the city. The ideal candidate will be a “big picture” thinker with an innovative, community-minded artistic practice and demonstrated commitment to the linkage of art and project-based learning for young people ages 10-22. Duties include:

Ensuring program quality at Art Education classrooms through regular site visits; cultivating and managing strong relationships with site partners; and assisting with the site and student recruitment, application, and selection processes.
Overseeing selection, planning and management of several Art Education mural projects, particularly youth mural projects.
Assisting with selection, hiring, training, supervision, resourcing, and evaluation of program faculty.
Coordinating student exhibitions in collaboration with administrative staff.
Collaborating on program-related marketing and public relations efforts with assistance from the Communications/Public Engagement department.
Assisting with documentation and evaluation of program, ensuring the program is managed consistently in alignment with grant requirements, and working with the Development department on interim and final reports and funder site visits.
