About the Role

The Archival Assistant will support the maintenance and growth of SAADA’s post-custodial digital archive and digital participatory platforms (like our award-winning First Days Project and Road Trips Project), to ensure their place as nationally recognized trusted resources for scholars, educators, artists, filmmakers, students, and community members.

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Organize, arrange, and process newly digitized or born-digital materials, including image rotation, cropping, and editing.
  • Add items to the archive and digital platforms, creating metadata to support digital collection discoverability and accessibility.
  • Review and publish stories on participatory digital platforms, ensuring quality, metadata accuracy, and consistency.
  • Digitize analog materials, maintaining adherence to preservation standards.
  • Review archival items for metadata accuracy, ensuring consistency and relevance.
  • Accurately transcribe archival materials through utilization of software and manual transcription, maintaining linguistic nuances and context.
  • Assist in managing equipment, tools, and resources for digitization projects.
