Apply to Be a Penn Community Scholar – Sep 10

Participants will join a cadre of Penn Community Scholars who want to extend the potential for developing and sustaining research partnerships.
The Penn Community Scholars Program is a 14-session virtual training series being offered to representatives of community-based organizations interested in learning more about the research process and building community-academic partnerships. Program components include: an introduction to community-academic partnerships, challenges and opportunities partnering with academics, building a logic model, evaluating impact, developing a winning pitch, and more. The program concludes in a culminating symposium where Scholars pitch their ideas to a panel of funders and academics.
Ten to twelve community-based organizations will be selected via a competitive application process and may have 1 individual apply from their organization who will present a pitch. Individuals who complete all sessions and make a final pitch presentation will receive a stipend for participation.
- Participate in an interactive training curriculum on community-based participatory research and community engagement.
- Attend a spring symposium that will bring together members of academic and local communities to facilitate dialogue, co-learning and collaboration.
- Engage with Penn researchers to expand opportunities for community-academic partnerships.
