Posted by Made by Us on October 15, 2024
Made By Us connects young adults with the power of history to make a better future. With our coalition of hundreds of museums and historic sites nationwide, and programs that serve Millennials and Gen Z, we’re working to bridge past, present and future as we approach the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and the start of our country, in 2026.
Youth250 is a dynamic, nonpartisan initiative to capture young people’s imaginations, ideas and input as the United States turns 250 years old in 2026. You can help shape how our country meets this moment tradition as a Youth250 National Advisory Bureau Member.
What you’ll do:
- Participate in 20 hours of training on human centered design, consulting, youth engagement and so much more taught by our Youth250 Champions including the Smithsonian Institution, Teen Vogue, CoGenerate and National Park Service
- Lend 2-4 hours a month to Youth250 consultations, community building and skill development
Advise on programs, content and decisions to ensure an inviting, accessible experience for 18-30 year olds - Weigh in on brand, marketing and positioning for the 250th
- Serve as a champion, advocate and spokesperson for the youth inclusion and participation in the 250th
What you’ll gain:
Community: Join a growing cohort of individuals looking to shape America’s democracy for the better
Impact: Play a direct role in shaping how the US marks its 250th across the country
Experience: Gain national-level work experience with leading cultural institutions, nonprofits, government agencies and corporations
Skill Development: Learn from top experts, develop a national platform, and receive mentorship from leaders in the field
Visibility: Opportunities to write, speak and be featured in connection with Youth250, on social media, blogs and traditional media
Compensation: Receive a $1,400 stipend, paid in three parts over the course of the program
We are seeking Advisors who are between 18-30 years old. No experience is needed besides your lived experience. People of color, LGBTQ people, veterans, immigrants, system impacted individuals, young parents, people with disabilities, first-generation college students and those without a college degree are encouraged to apply.
