William T. Grant Foundation Welcomes Applications for Scholars Program
The New York City-based William T. Grant Foundation supports research to improve the lives of young people in the United States between the ages of 5 and 25.
To advance this mission, the foundation is welcoming applications for its Scholars Program, which funds five-year research and mentoring plans that significantly expand researchers’ expertise in new disciplines, methods, and content areas. Through the program, four to six scholars in any discipline will be awarded up to $350,000 over five years. In addition, scholars will receive capacity building and career development opportunities in support of research conducted in one of two focus areas:
Reducing Inequality — Research that aims to build, test, or increase understanding of programs, policies, or practices to reduce inequality in the academic, social, behavioral, or economic outcomes of young people, especially on the basis of race, ethnicity, economic standing, language minority status, or immigrant origins.
Improving the Use of Research Evidence — Research to identify, build, and test strategies to ensure that research evidence is used in ways that benefit youth. The foundation is particularly interested in research on improving the use of research evidence by state and local decision makers, mid-level managers, and intermediaries.
To be eligible, applicants must be nominated by their institution; have received their terminal degree within seven years of submitting an application; and be employed in career-ladder positions, such as a tenure-track position in a university. Awarded institutions must be tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
See the William T. Grant website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
