Announcing the Teachers Institute of Philadelphia 2026-27 Program

Posted by Teachers Institute of Philadelphia on July 21, 2026

The Teachers Institute of Philadelphia (TIP) invites teachers from around the School District of Philadelphia to participate in its 2026-27 Program of workshops and seminars. Upon successful completion, workshop participants earn 8 Act 48 credits and a $400 stipend, and seminar participants, 30 Act 48 credits and a $1,500 stipend.

Fellows will acquire cutting-edge knowledge from university professors and write original curricula based on the material they have learned. They will use this knowledge to teach District, state and national curriculum standards, improving results in the classroom.

Workshops meet four times on Wednesdays or Thursdays, 5-7:00pm, in October and November of 2026. Seminars meet fifteen times on Wednesdays or Thursdays, 5-7:00pm from January through May of 2027. Meetings are on the Penn or Temple campuses.

We would also like to note that applications are currently being accepted for both the Fall 2026 Workshops and Spring 2027 Seminars. Although the application is open and functioning correctly, the TIP website is still displaying last year’s seminar information while we complete our annual updates.

Please be assured that this will not affect your application for the Fall 2026 Workshops or Spring 2027 Seminars. You may continue to apply as normal using the current application.

Spring 2027 Seminars include:

  • Writers on Writing, Christy Davids, Penn Creative Writing; meets Wednesdays at Penn
  • Murals as Classrooms, Classroom Murals, Shira Walinsky, Mural Arts Program, Weitzman School of Design, Penn; meets Thursdays at Penn
  • Asian American Food, Fariha I. Khan, Penn Asian American Studies; meets Thursdays at Penn
  • Albums and Algorithms, Ben Torsney, Temple College of Education and Human Development; meets Thursdays at Temple

Applications will be available Monday, August 17. Visit the TIP website for instructions.

To learn more about the program, we invite you to join TIP’s virtual information session on Tuesday, September 1, 4-5pm. Sign up here to receive a Zoom link.
