Posted by Marga on March 12, 2018
The Anchor Institutions Task Force (AITF) is announcing our call for sessions to take place at our upcoming Annual Conference on November 15 and 16 in New York City. These concurrent sessions will take place during the morning of November 16. AITF conferences bring together leaders and partners representing anchor institutions of varying types (i.e. colleges and universities, hospitals, arts institutions, government, and philanthropy) to discuss how anchor institutions can make greater contributions to neighborhoods, municipalities, and regions. The conference addresses OR Participants address how collaborative, place-based initiatives involving anchor institutions can reduce disparities and expand opportunities in areas such as education, economic development, and health. AITF is values-based, promoting a commitment to place, democracy and democratic practice, partnership and collaboration, equity and social justice. AITF is particularly interested in showcasing and learning from anchor partnerships that have pursued equitable approaches to development.
Concurrent sessions will address the role of particular anchor institutions in community and economic development in their localities. We are especially interested in sessions that will demonstrate how anchor institutions, working across different fields, are collaborating to address important pressing matters in their local communities.
