The ACLU-Greater Philadelphia Chapter and the Free Library of Philadelphia invite you to join them in a celebration of the First Amendment and the freedom to read!
What: An Evening of Celebrity Readings Against Censorship (a Banned Books
Week event)
Local celebrities will be reading selections from their favorite banned or challenged book.
Featured readers include:
Solomon Jones, author of Pipe Dream and The Bridge
LunchLady Doris, comedy improv company
Zuhairah McGill, founder/executive producer of First World Theater Ensemble
Lisa Scottoline, author of Dead Ringer and Courting Trouble
Shelley Spector, artist and gallery owner
Joey Sweeney, of the band The Trouble with Sweeney
Gene Shay of WXPN’s The Folk Show will emcee the event.
When: Monday, September 22, at 7 p.m.
Where: Free Library of Philadelphia Central Branch, 1901 Vine Street
How much: Free!
