PA Campus Compact
AmeriCorps*VISTA Leader

PACC is searching for a full-time AmeriCorps*VISTA Leader to assist the VISTA Project Manager in supporting our 28 PACC-VISTA projects led by VISTA members. These VISTA members are based at higher education institutions around Pennsylvania with a focus on building capacity of their host institutions to address poverty in their communities.

A. Responsibilities
A. Assist with the VISTA site recruitment process
a. Develop recruitment strategies; create/develop brochures and flyers for host sites to distribute
b. Learn web-based recruitment system and train/support VISTA site supervisors
c. Coordinate with Corporation for National and Community Service recruitment representative
B. Collect information, maintain and update PACC-VISTA database, host site information, VISTA profiles
C. Monitor announcements, directions to events, urgent messages, funding alerts, and news updates
D. Create a support network among VISTA members
E. Promote information sharing and resource building among AmeriCorps*VISTA members and projects
F. Act as an ombudsperson, resolving problems and representing issues on behalf of AmeriCorps*VISTA Members
G. Serve as a liaison among PACC, CNCS, VISTA Members, and VISTA Project sites
H. Develop and implement in-service training meetings
a. Collaboratively develop agenda with VISTA Director
b. Coordinate logistics for in-service trainings and retreats
I. Gather, compile and organize data for Quarterly Reports

B. Organizational Relationships
The VISTA Leader reports to the PACC VISTA Project Manager and works closely with PA Campus Compact staff, state and national Corporation for National Service offices , the PA Department of Education, PennSERVE, and other VISTA projects in PA.

C. Qualifications

Education
? B.A. or B.S. in relevant field
? Working knowledge of community service and service-learning best practices

Experience
? The individual must have served as and successfully completed a term of service as an AmeriCorps member (preferably VISTA) or as a Peace Corps Volunteer
? Experience in developing effective educational partnerships, particularly between colleges and K-12 schools
? Experience coordinating and/or participating in service-learning and/or community service efforts
? Experience in training, facilitation, and public speaking

Skills
? Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet and database software, internet and e-mail
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills
? Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks effectively, and take initiative
? Able to work independently and with teams
? Ability to interact with students and administrators

E. Benefits
? Living allowance, $12,396 for 12 months
? Health care benefits commensurate with CNCS provisions
? Choice of Education Award ($4725) or End of Service Stipend
? Professional development/training funds through PACC

F. Summary of position

The best candidate for this position will be someone who has a passion for public service, enjoys working in an environment that values collegiality, humor, and reflection, and works equally as well independently and as a member of a team. Ideally, the VISTA Leader will be an independent worker, capable of taking initiative and seeing projects through to their completion.
