AmeriCorps*VISTA, InterCorps Council at YouthBuild

AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) provides full-time member services to non-profit, faith-based and other community organizations, and public agencies to create and expand programs that ultimately bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty. Through AmeriCorps*VISTA, ordinary people provide extraordinary service in more than 1,200 projects nationwide.
The full time VISTA will be responsible for the development of the Philadelphia Inter-Corps Council (ICC). The ICC will serve as a vehicle for collaborative efforts, resource sharing and program development for all of the Philadelphia AmeriCorps programs. These AmeriCorps programs include YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School, City Year Philadelphia, National School and Community Corps, and many more.
The position will be hosted by YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School. The VISTA will serve alongside other full-time AmeriCorps members working with YouthBuild’s service program.
Major Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Developing a resource sharing network between the programs listed above;
Coordinating social events for members of the groups listed above;
Designing and developing an annual launch for members to come together for support and training;
Facilitating and coordinating meetings of an ICC Advisory Board;
Coordinating the service activities of participating programs for the Martin Luther King Day of Service;
Coordinating public engagement activities for the larger community; and,
Engaging corporate volunteers in community service.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in related field
Leadership experience
Experience and comfort with public speaking
Excellent communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Either U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien of the United States
Compensation:
Living allowance at 105% of poverty
Education award of $4,725
Loan forbearance with interest accruement payment
Child care coverage (if applicable)
Health insurance
Relocation expense reimbursement
