AmeriCorps*VISTA, Coming of Age project

Center for Intergenerational Learning seeks Americorps*VISTA Volunteers:

Center for Intergenerational Learning?s Coming of Age is Greater Philadelphia?s initiative to promote civic engagement, learning, and community leadership for the area?s people age 50+. It celebrates their potential to grow and have a powerful impact on their community; inspires them to explore their passions, be community leaders, pursue learning and engage in meaningful service; and helps build the capacity of the region?s nonprofits to tap their experience. The VISTA member working with Coming of Age helps get stories about Coming of Age in the media, assists in presenting an exciting lecture dialogue series, producing radio and TV spots targeted to diverse communities and low-income populations, builds traffic to our website, researching new topics for the site, creating photographic and videotape productions about the initiative?s work for national and other presentations, developing program evaluations, writing articles about the initiative?s work as it expands into culturally and racially diverse communities.

The VISTA member will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

 Excellent written, verbal, organization, and research skills
 Some design or photographic experience
 Bachelors degree
 Strong interest in working in urban communities
 Creative bent and flexible work style

Term of service: The term of service for this AmeriCorps*VISTA position is mid-August 2006 through the end of July 2007. Deadline to apply is June 30.
