AmeriCorps Week 2012
Posted by on February 27, 2012
AmeriCorps Week is a celebration of AmeriCorps members — former and current — and their service in communities throughout the nation. AmeriCorps Week 2012 will take place from Saturday, March 10 to Sunday, March 18.
Philadelphia, a city with a culture of civic engagement and the service site of more than 600 active AmeriCorps members, is hosting several events during AmeriCorps Week 2012.
The theme of AmeriCorps Week 2012 is AmeriCorps WORKS. This theme is a succinct way of expressing the benefits of AmeriCorps programs and provides an overarching framework to communicate the AmeriCorps triple bottom line return on investment — for the recipients of service, those who serve, and the larger community and nation.
The Philadelphia AmeriCorps Week Planning Committee has given this theme the acronym AmeriCorps W.O.R.K.S. — working our resources knowledgeably for service. This acronym embodies the essence of AmeriCorps Week and will provide the direction for our programming. With that, we will highlight and celebrate the countless days and hours AmeriCorps members have dedicated — and continue to dedicate — to service in the city of Philadelphia.
