SERVICE OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY
CEO will place three AmeriCorps VISTA Members (one at each site) who will serve for a full year the organization’s Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg offices. VISTA Members will be charged with building the capacity of CEO to serve participants by cultivating financial resources, developing community partnerships, and providing support for program implementation and innovation.
CEO’S MISSION AND VISION
The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) is dedicated to providing immediate, elective and comprehensive employment services to men and women with recent criminal convictions. Our highly structured and tightly supervised programs help participants regain the skills and confidence needed for successful transitions to stable, productive lives. CEO’s vision is that anyone with a recent criminal history who wants to work has the preparation and support needed to find a job and to stay connected to the labor force.
SERVICE ACTIVITIES
– Work closely with local and national staff to research and write proposals for funding and explore other potential revenue streams
– Attend regional anti-poverty and reentry coalition meetings and other events within the community to explore possible opportunities for collaboration
– Develop a resource bank of regional programs/vendors that provide supportive services to participants outside of CEO’s scope of work
– Help to implement a new SNAP Employment and Training funding stream through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services
– Compile an analysis of peer organizations and make suggestions for program function innovation, improvement, and evaluation
REQUIRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
– Interest in working with formerly incarcerated individuals and a passion for service
– Experience working in a fast-paced environment
– Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks
– Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
– Comfortable speaking in public and working with diverse audiences
– Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite)
– Willingness to grow and learn new skills
