AmeriCorps Unveils Inaugural Annual Performance Report in Brief Highlighting Performance Achievements and Strategic Progress

AmeriCorps has announced the release of its inaugural 2022-2026 Strategic Plan Annual Performance Report in Brief, showcasing significant milestones and achievements since the plan’s launch. The report underscores AmeriCorps’ commitment to continuous improvement and operational accountability and demonstrates the agency’s unwavering dedication to improving lives, strengthening communities and fostering civic engagement through service and volunteering.

“Since the first AmeriCorps members were sworn in thirty years ago, AmeriCorps has been a unifying force, bringing together people from all backgrounds to work towards common goals,” said Michael D. Smith, CEO, AmeriCorps. “Our inaugural Annual Performance Report in Brief is a testament to the incredible impact of our members and volunteers who tirelessly serve communities across the nation. We are proud of our progress and remain committed to achieving our mission with transparency and accountability.”

The inaugural AmeriCorps Annual Performance Report in Brief presents a comprehensive overview of the agency’s performance in alignment with its 2022-2026 Strategic Plan. In the last year, AmeriCorps:

  • Awarded more than $1 billion to organizations serving in nearly 35,000 locations providing critical services in AmeriCorps focus areas.
  • Increased partnerships with federal agencies and the private sector to expand the benefits and reach of national service.
  • Supported AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers serving more than five million Americans in FY 2023.
  • Made significant progress in critical areas such as poverty alleviation and racial equity and enhanced the experience for AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers.
  • Successfully launched Public Health AmeriCorps, enrolling more than 5,000 members supported by funds from the Biden-Harris administration’s American Rescue Plan and in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  • As part of the administration’s call for improved participant well-being, the agency has taken many steps to improve access to participation, including increasing stipend amounts for eligible AmeriCorps Seniors programs and the living allowances for AmeriCorps members in addition to providing opportunities for service to lead to potential career pathways.
  • AmeriCorps received a grant from the Technology Modernization Fund to improve legacy information technology systems, including grant management and member management systems, and rolled out significant enhancements to the member and volunteer portal.
  • The agency continues to make financial and operational reforms to improve mission delivery and operational efficiency to improve stewardship of appropriated funds.
  • The introduction of a Balanced Scorecard to help track and share AmeriCorps’ performance, even beyond strategic objectives.
