Opportunities exist throughout Philadelphia, and we are interviewing now! This is a 40 hour per week, year-long commitment. Begin a full year of service on December 4, 2006. Through a new partnership with the Benefit Bank, EducationWorks has a limited number of corpsmember positions available.
Benefit Bank Corpsmember Position
The Benefit Bank (TBB) is a dynamic initiative that assists low- and moderate- income individuals and families to apply for tax refunds and public benefits from one location. TBB is a national program that can be part of a community-wide response to poverty. It works by building relationships between counselors and clients, host sites and the community, and the community and policy makers. Use of TBB not only provides the opportunity to help neighbors it also provides information for organizations to advocate more effectively for policies that better serve their communities.
TBB is seeking an AmeriCorps Member with an outgoing attitude and great organizational skills to assist in developing and running regional benefit clinics to assist low-income families apply for various assistance opportunities including prescription assistance for seniors (PACE/PACE net), the PA Rent Rebate Program and Federal/State Taxes. The AmeriCorps Member will also have the opportunity to train state-wide partners in the operation of running a successful clinic campaign.
Primary Skills:
? Outgoing personality
? Ability and willingness to work with a wide range of people and organizations
? Organizational Skills to keep track of clinics and clinic needs
? Basic Computer and Internet skills
? Eagerness to learn about different benefits available to low-income individuals and the ability to respond to client questions.
? Flexible Hours ? Days, Nights, Weekends ? are expected
? Travel, not to be more than 25% of time, may be necessary (expenses paid)
? Bilingual (Spanish & English) Preferred
Primary Tasks:
? Distribute the ?How to do a Clinic? publication through out TBB network.
? Manage all logistics- technological, marketing requests and day of operations for scheduled clinics.
? Document the success/ challenges of each clinic.
? Be a liaison with the clinic site and TBB resources
? Collaborate with other team members to ensure high usership and site satisfaction
? Job location is Philadelphia
? Compensation: You will get a $10,900 living allowance, a $4,725 education award, training, childcare reimbursement, and health insurance.
