The Alternative Break Citizenship schools combine the synergy and networking opportunities of a national conference with the personal and team growth aspects of an intimate leadership training. We take it one step further and present all activities within the dynamic atmosphere of a quality alternative break experience. Put together workshops, service projects, community interaction, speaker panels, teambuilding, discussions, and reflection and you’ve got the ABCs – an experience like no other

The summer location for the Boston Hostel is actually the Boston University campus, overlooking historic Fenway Park. This ABCs session runs from Saturday, June 26 through Friday, July 2. The experiential components (service, education, reflection) will be tied to environmental issues. Service projects will be just a short walk away, coordinated by the Charles River Conservancy (http://www.charlesriverconservancy.org).

In Miami, participants will work with Habitat for Humanity (http://www.miamihabitat.org) to explore and address issues related to affordable housing. This ABCs will take place from Sunday, August 1 through Saturday, August 7 at Florida International University.

All food (17 meals), on-site transportation, housing (6 nights), social night activities, Community Dinner, Speaker Panel, and comprehensive training binder is included in the registration fee.

Registration is accepted on a first come, first served basis until the registration deadline of June 1. Orbitz, the site to find great travel deals (http://www.alternativebreaks.org/orbitz.asp), is donating a limited number of free airline tickets to help participants fly to the ABCs as well. Please contact the Break Away office at breakaway@alternativebreaks.org or 850.644.0986 with any questions or concerns.
