Afterschool Safety Captain Supervisor, Application Deadline Sept. 20

Join Fab Youth Philly’s team of Afterschool Super Heroes as a Safety Captain Facilitator. Fab Youth Philly is a values-driven organization that SUPPORTS youth-serving organizations, CONNECTS youth development professionals and INNOVATES original programming for children & teens. With support from Drexel University Promise Neighborhood, we created an afterschool job for up to 10 teens, called the Safety Captain Initiative taking place in the Promise Neighborhood of West Philadelphia. The Safety Captain Initiative is a workforce development program that uses Project Based Learning to engage
teens in answering questions like: “What makes a neighborhood youth-friendly?” Teens are paid to conduct research, interviews, develop surveys, make arts projects and more in service of answering this question.

This is a part-time position of up to 15 hours per week. The meeting days and time with the teens are Wed. & Thursday from 3-6pm. Interested candidates MUST be available these two days/times. There is also approximately 5 hours of weekly preparation, meetings, etc. included in these 15 hours, which can be flexible. Fab Youth Philly provides paid time off for PT employees following a 90-day probationary period.

Previous experience working with teens in an afterschool job setting is required.

Hourly rate $20 and is contingent upon availability of funding. There will be a period of paid training for the Supervisor. All employees are required to produce fingerprinting/ child abuse and criminal background clearances. If hired, people will become employees of Fab Youth Philly.
