United Communities Southeast Philadelphia has an immediate opening for a qualified Afterschool Group Leader. This position involves the care of children in an assigned group, under the guidance and supervision of the Program Coordinator, in order to meet their physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs. For the majority of the time, the Group Leader works in an indoor classroom, however s/he is also responsible for the caring of children at the playground, on trips and at public events. The Group Leader assists the Program Coordinator in both planning and implementing a variety of learning and program activities to meet the needs of the children. Must have a high school diploma (some college is preferred); a minimum of two years experience working with at-risk youth in an educational environment; must enjoy working with children in grades K-8; experience in intervention/conflict resolution; and experience in implementing enrichment programs with youth (arts, music, cultural, science, language, etc.).
