Advocating for Racial Equity in the US Healthcare System
Posted by Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) on August 22, 2023
Structural racism in the United States healthcare system has deep historical roots and is ongoing. A growing body of research highlights that centuries of racism in this country have profoundly and negatively impacted millions of Americans.
At Community-Campus Partnerships for Health, we believe that creating healthier communities and overcoming complex societal concerns requires collaborative planning that brings communities and institutions together as equitable partners to build upon their assets, strengths, and capacities. This is why, in partnership with the RADx-UP Engaging Black/African Americans Working Group, we created a new educational resource to support improved patient and provider relationships, Advocating for Racial Equity in the US Healthcare System.
This resource guide aims to help patients and providers navigate the barriers impacting equitable health outcomes.
Highlights of this resource include:
- Patient and provider resources to support stronger relationships and improved health outcomes
- Vaccination and screening schedules
- Scholarly articles and case studies highlighting challenges in our healthcare system
- Educational and community-based resources
