Posted by Public Health Management Corporation on January 10, 2023

Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) is proud to be a leader in public health. PHMC requires that all employees are fully vaccinated with the Covid-19 vaccine before the first day of employment.

Job Overview:

Health Promotion Council (HPC) requires a full-time Program Coordinator to implement Advocacy Institute youth programming, including the Activate! Youth Advocates for Diabetes Prevention cohorts. The Advocacy Institute (Ai) is a public health program designed to empower young people ages 14 to 21 years old to make sustainable change in their communities through policy, media, and community advocacy. Ai addresses systemic health justice challenges through equitable and authentic youth/adult partnerships. In these partnerships, youth are entrusted to lead and challenge current systems and work collaboratively to create solutions. Activate! Youth Advocates for Diabetes Prevention, a program of Ai and HPC, incorporates health education and youth advocacy in a 12-session series to address healthy lifestyles promotion among youth, specifically to address prevention of chronic conditions, including type 2 diabetes.

This program engages youth to explore how social determinants of health impact chronic disease prevention and management. Youth work collaboratively to identify an action plan to advocate for an issue in their school and/or local community to impact policy, systems, and environmental changes. This role will also be involved with Ai’s larger youth advocacy network, who help to co-facilitate cohort programs and engage their peers in advocacy. The Ai Program Coordinator will work in conjunction with the other Ai Program Coordinators and the Ai Program Manager to coordinate all aspects of Ai, including recruitment, facilitation, oversight of Ai Peer Coaches.
